We'd give it a 10 except that quiet hours were not well enforced. We were in the Ash loop - the only electric loop - site 6. Our site was very private, but the loud partying noise from #4 was very audible in the quiet hours. We were close enough to the newly renovated bathrooms, which feature a family room (unfortunately often used by non-handicapped singles . . .) and a nice dish sink. We were within a 10 minute walk of the beach area and camp store. We could easily pull an all-terrain wagon down the paths and onto the beach. There were family activities on this holiday weekend like crafts, ice cream social, musicians performing. Cumberland was a short drive away for the fireworks and restaurants. We'll definitely return to this beautiful, relaxing, family-fun park!

The rate I've given reflects a Memorial Day weekend with 3 wristbands for the amenities, which you HAVE to pay for with the site. Although the price is steep, our children have LOVED our 3 stays here. This time we stayed in what appears to be the older area near the cabins (lower 100s), and we liked it better than where we've stayed before (#312 and #131) because this area has huge shade trees and nice sized lots. Our little ones enjoyed the little wading pool best, but there is a great pool for older ones with the water slides. The activities were generally well-managed although sometimes the free craft time was not run well. They had a nice country music "concert" one night, a parade, daily pledge with a bear, and a nice playground for kids of all sizes. Our children really love it here, but we can only dish out this price once or twice a year.

In our short 1 1/2 year stint of pop-up camping, this has been our favorite campground so far. We were in site #6, a large shaded site that backed up to one of the several playgrounds. We were within a short walking distance to a bath house, the lovely pool, the game room, the snack bar, mini-golf, and the camp store. There in fact is a petting zoo, with just a mama goat and her two kids, down near the large fishing pond. They had a hay ride and a few other planned activities. We found the staff to be very friendly, and the many seasonal campers were too. The WiFi worked well when it worked, which was not often (they use HughesNet satellite, which apparently was having many problems related to weather). We will definitely return and ask for this site again.

I acknowledge the difficulties for larger rigs in this place, but I can't possibly understand the 1 ratings. We visited on one of the Halloween weekends here and we enjoyed it immensely. We stayed at site 106, which I would recommend for only a popup. The rate reflects a KOA Kard discount. Our young children really enjoyed the trick or treating -- everyone really gets into the spirit! So much so that we avoided some areas, including the Haunted House, because they're just too scary. The pool is heated and still in use! The other activities for families were well attended and much enjoyed by us. But this is the kind of place that sells beer and wine in the camp store, and if that sort of atmosphere doesn't suit you, you will be offended here . . . It was quiet after 10, however, and we found everyone to be quite kind. There's even a movie theater with lots of shows for kids. We'll be back and we'll be sure to book early for another Halloween weekend!

This CG obviously caters in large part to seasonals, but an overnighter wouldn't see much of these trailers unless he were to walk around the whole camp. The overnight spots appear mostly to be in a loop away from the seasonals. We asked to move our two sites because the first we were given had drops off the back of the sites that we didn't like because of our young children. The office staff were happy to let us "shop" for other sites and so we were ultimately pleased. I would give a higher rating except that quiet hours were not enforced and in our pop-up, we could hear a lot of partying noises late at night. There's a cool little bar down the road (still have to drive there) called Bill's Place that serves dinner. It and the CG are very close to the C&O Canal. We will return.

We did really enjoy our stay. We'd give a ten if the sites were larger and better spaced and if the bathhouse were closer. Our site was pretty well shaded and very level, but we had tenters right next door to the right, and even though they were lovely people, we felt that they were right on top of us. Had a popup been there with their back end to us, we might have felt that we had more privacy. There were also yellow jackets EVERYwhere and this made for a difficult stay. My husband was stung visiting the bathhouse. However, rowdy visitors were not tolerated at all, and we really appreciated the constant visible security. The many and varied family activities were wonderful too. Overall, we would return but missed the space that we enjoyed at the Gettysburg Campground up the road.

I give such a low rating because of the state of the bathrooms in the Hoffman Loop for most of a weekend during high season. They didn't appear to be cleaned all weekend -- ran out of soap, only one functioning female shower which was not clean, gross. However, we liked our very private site at 119. This is one of only a few in this loop that has electric. Long driveway and surrounded by woods. Close enough to bathhouse and playground is in this loop -- also a pier. The bugs weren't even bad! We also were supposed to stay in the Green's Point Loop for one night, but a very high tide had turned that loop into a swamp -- our site, 101, literally had a moat! It was too dangerous for our young children, so we were able to get a site in Tulip, 161, which was quite nice. Full hookups there but no bathhouse. These sites have virtually no driveways and are much less private. Also, the beach (which is a few minutes' drive away) was closed due to high bacteria levels. It was generally an icky weekend . . .

This is a decent overnight, typical MD state park sort of campground. The camp hosts were very kind, and our particular site, 403, was very nice -- level, shady, close enough to bath house, fine dusty ground, picnic table, fire pit with grate, and relatively private. Site 402 would have been nice as a "friends'" site if we had needed it and it was certainly big enough for a big rig. One caveat for PUP campers: our site was near the entrance to both circles and as a result we had lights and noise from entering vehicles well into the night -- This is obviously an overnighter sort-of place, not so much a destination campground. The playground was near us, but the slide was broken. The gnats started swarming when it got hot - thank goodness we had the screened-in room. Late night quiet hours (11 pm) were not observed nor enforced. That was a disappointment. We would probably only stay again if we needed to be close to Baltimore, which this is VERY close for city jaunts.

Overall we really enjoyed our visit. We had site #116 w/W & E, which was very close to the cute cabins and also the "Sun Deck" where many big rigs stay (including my in-laws). We had a pretty long walk to the restrooms -- I can't imagine for the tent sites. Although we liked our shady level site, we decided that next time we try for a creekside site. Very lovely. The bathhouse toilet stalls were small, but were relatively clean. The store and ice cream parlor were very nice, and we really enjoyed the bingo activities and pool.

This beautiful state campground's setting is tall pines and a rocky running stream. We stated in the 50 amp sites (152) because we wanted to stay near my in-laws who have a big rig (150) and they wanted 50 amp. We chose only from knowledge of the map online, but if we would do it again, we'd choose another site - perhaps 132-136 because of they are level sites near the stream or else 177-183 on the other side because of level, big sites near the bathhouse. The bathhouse is no luxury (push button showers that start out cold but they get hot and no lights during day to save electricity) but they were clean enough. It's pretty, basic family camping at its best. The other campground at the park has the pool nearby but it looks much hillier and more difficult for bigger rigs without as much pretty shade. We will definitely return to Hosack.
